On the site of a former hippy commune, siblings Jasper and Sophie Button farm three and a half hectares of organically managed vines in the heart of the Adelaide Hills. Having grown up in a tight-knit winemaking community, the pair were exposed to all things wine-related but showed initial reluctance to follow in the footsteps of their grape-growing parents. After nearly a decade spent away from home, though, Jasper and Sophie decided to return upon hearing that their parents were struggling to make a living off selling their grapes. Having decided to try their hand at winemaking instead of selling off their fruit, the pair quickly earned themselves a cult following for their vibrant and energetic wines, and thus, the Commune of Buttons journey had begun. The 2020 vintage of the Commune White Chardonnay has a lovely balance of white nectarine, peachy stone fruit, and crunchy apple. A delicately oxidative edge adds interest while the zippy freshness brings line and length. Another delicious drop from Jasper and Sophie!

Commune of Buttons White Chardonnay 2020

An eclectic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, and Grüner Veltliner, topped up with a splash of Savagnin. Lo-fi in it's look and feel, with some savoury lees texture and a subtle oxidative twang on the nose. On the palate, there's sandalwood, cider apple, and white pepper, with crunchy acidity and a lightly chalky feel to the finish.

From old plantings at 500 metres above sea level, this premium fruit ferments and aged in oak (30% new) for 14 months. White blossom and floral scents lead to rich stone fruit of nectarine and yellow peach. There’s a flinty inflection to the precise palate, already showing amazing depth and length.
